This ethereal portrait of a majestic male lion looking into the distance, was taken in the soft early morning light in Ndutu, Serengeti. We had been enjoying some quiet moments with the lion as surveyed his territory looking for signs of his brother and the rest of the pride. When he spotted a nomad lion on the opposite side of the river he sprang to action. This was the moment just before he started running across the river to chase off the male lion.
