Baffin Island, Canada 2023
What a day this was with this mother and two small cubs that our guides believed had just left their den in the previous few days. They were certainly the smallest cubs I had ever seen and luckily for our group, the mother was relaxed in our presence so we were able to spend the whole day with them at a safe distance.
The pristine snow & ice covering Baffin Island served as a stunning environment to capture this mother & her two cubs & to be on foot whilst capturing this image made it any extra special experience. The overall scene is also helped by the soft, muted tones evoking a sense of tranquility, while the gentle curves of the ice formations create a harmonious backdrop for this family moment. The bears, embodying both strength and tenderness, navigate their icy habitat with grace, but with cubs this young, the mother has to keep a watchful eye on other bears, especially males.
