For over a decade, I have travelled to Svalbard, Alaska, and Canada to photograph one of my favourite species—the polar bear. Creating authentic, impactful polar bear images over this time has been both a personal passion and a profound privilege.

Part of what draws me to these resilient Arctic wanderers is the dramatic, often unforgiving environments they call home. Seeing my first polar bear, tiny in the frame, walking along a remote shoreline with a towering glacier behind it, was a truly transformative experience and sparked a passion to documenting them through my wildlife photography.

Since then, I’ve captured polar bear photographs from a small fishing boat in Kaktovik, where curious cubs come so close you can almost touch them, to witnessing intimate moments between mothers and their cubs of the year. I’ve also photographed bears resting peacefully on massive icebergs in Baffin Island. Every encounter has been unique, often fleeting, and never taken for granted.

Beyond their beauty, polar bears face increasing environmental challenges. Climate change is rapidly reducing Arctic sea ice, which polar bears rely on for hunting seals, traveling long distances, and raising their young. Shorter ice seasons force bears to spend more time on land, leading to food scarcity, increased energy loss, and greater interactions with humans. These challenges make documenting polar bears in their natural habitat more important than ever, not only for art but also for awareness and conservation. That’s why I support Polar Bears International, not only personally but through my print sales each year.

This collection features some of my most compelling polar bear photos captured over the years.
