INDIA’S BIG CATS

This curated collection of wildlife photography celebrates the majestic beauty and elusive nature of India’s big cats—with a special focus on the Bengal Tiger and the Indian Leopard. Each image tells a story, capturing these magnificent predators in their natural habitats and showcasing their grace, raw power, and fascinating behaviors that make them icons of the Indian wilderness.

From the regal stance of a Bengal Tiger prowling through the dense jungles of central India to the stealthy leap of a spotted Leopard navigating the treetops of Panna and Kabini, these photographs highlight the incredible diversity and adaptability of the big cats of India.

The images reflect both the triumphs of conservation, such as the inspiring tiger resurgence in Panna Tiger Reserve, which I cover in my Photo Story here, and the ongoing challenges of preserving habitats for future generations.

Through this collection, my aim is to inspire appreciation for the big cats of India, encourage deeper respect for their role in India’s biodiversity, and spark greater awareness about the importance of protecting these iconic species. If you want to know more from Wildlife Experts in India about these issues, check out my interviews with Nat Geo Filmmakers and Explorers Shaaz Jung and Aishwarya Sridhar.

By celebrating the raw beauty of India’s Big Cats, these images I hope to remind us that their survival depends on our collective commitment to conservation. If you want to see more images of Bengal Tigers check out my photo story where I talk about my quest over the last decade to get a “perfect” photo of a this elusive and mysterious Big Cat.
